Lights are Off

January 3rd, 2010

Well it is the end of another season.  I have shut down the show and started to put up what was above the ice.  Still can’t get the controllers or piano keys up but hopefully the ice will melt soon.

Thank you to everyone that came out and visited the show this year and I hope you all enjoyed it.  Check back through out the year for updates for next year.

Wondering how to take down the display

January 1st, 2010

Should be interesting to figure out how to get all of the display picked up as it is mostly under snow and ice!!!

Grinch Stolen

December 30th, 2009

I walked out this morning to warm up the truck for work and walked by a bent pole where the Grinch once stood.  I guess that someone needed it more than me.

Snow covered lights

December 27th, 2009

Well, the lights are under the snow, at least part of them and they are still working great.  Had a few people visit over the last couple of days.  Looks like the lights will be out a little longer.

Christmas Eve

December 25th, 2009

Due to weather and travel conditions the show did not run tonight.  All should be working for Christmas night.  Merry Christmas to everybody.

Trying to find the 1 bad bulb

December 20th, 2009

Man this is tough.  I even have the fancy tool that helps to find the one bad bulb.  I have been trying to fix 1 strand of lights in my arches and have not been successful.  May just have to wait until I can bring it in the shop.  It isn’t to noticeable as it is only 50 lights out on the strand.

Think I found the problem

December 20th, 2009

Looks like the power supply for the controllers and relays may be getting a bit overworked.  I will make changes to next years hardware to have each controller utilizing it’s own power supply.  For the time being I will monitor the show and make sure that it is not interrupted.  Once again I apologize for anybody that came last night and did not get to see the complete show.

Rough Night tonight

December 20th, 2009

Not such a great night for the show. My wife and I went to a Christmas party and before we left some lights were freaking out. I fixed that and thought everything was going to be fine, but several times during the show my daughter had to call me so she could get it running. Hope nobody was disappointed. Should be able to get it all corrected in the morning.

Phone Call

November 30th, 2009

Last night the little neighbor boy down the street called me to thank me for getting the humpty humps working (the arches). That makes all of the work worth it.

Light Count for this year

November 29th, 2009

This year we increased the light count from 20,400 to 33,440 lights. This was mostly in the 2 poles, 1 additional large tree, and the 3 arches. Hope you all enjoy.
